All I know will be forgotten Everything I’ve seen will pass away And I’ve been trying to remember I’ve been trying But I can’t quite get it right Our birth’s a sleep and a forgetting What was it that I used to be? Some purer me I feel a presence – it’s disturbing I am ajar the draft is fine A sense sublime I’ve got you right where I can use you Right where I can say You roll right on through everything You don’t, spring catch Keep choking your neck All I know will be forgotten All I’ve seen will pass away And I’ve been trying to remember I’ve been trying But I can’t quite get it right

Your Fruit 03:42
I dreamt you were dead That you caught a disease And your memory, it hung It was fruit on a tree Your branches were bowing Were begging of me To taste your fruit Or forget you I split my lips I set my teeth It’s been so long Since you’ve bitten me Since you’ve spun my stem Sung your ABCs Or steeped yourself In irony I bite the skin around your body Dream up words to skin your memory But they won’t do If I learned a hundred languages I’d still Barely taste Your fruit Such strange fruit
3.
I Remember 02:54
Every now and then I get a little ‘round the bend I get a little A little ‘round the bend Every once in a blue moon I get real drunk and I talk to you I’m drinking up I’m staying up with you But I can’t remember My first remember I just remember All these full moonbeams And solid things And sick kid dreams I remember I remember A little bit of everything After my parasite It was real when I was younger When I drank all your water And you saved my life I make believe I talk to you When we both know it isn’t true When there’s no way in hell You’d talk to me Still every time I gotta sneeze I do so on my bended knee I’ll be damned If you’re not in such subtlety But I can’t recall Your touch at all Not since I saw All your wagging tongues My mystery train Its adage was – we saw it all We remember We saw everything In the dark of the night It’s truer when you’re older But one dip in the water Might save your life
4.
I Forgot 02:32
May your memory bless you May you remain in light May your memory keep you Out of my dreams tonight May you rest in ruin Before the bleeding starts May I rest there too if I forget where it is that you are But if I remember where to start Tap my toes, the tempo In this disco of mine It moves so slow I tap my toes I forget that I’m doing fine And I make up for lost time I felt you in the daytime I felt you in the dark How to let go, I did not know While you held down my heart Now I remember where to start Oh my god, I forgot

Watching for the signs Pray your body calm Break the bread and drink the wine Bleeding, bleeding taste the sponge Oh, Mother Mary Oh, Mother Mary Change

about

The songs on Strangers, Vol. 1 deal with the idea of distance and disillusionment - from oneself, from one's God, from what-have-you. I consider them a difficult but rewarding set, one to which I'm very devoted.

This is the first of two volumes - the second is already written and principal tracking has begun.
